The project of mapping religious diversity in New Orleans has been carried out by undergraduates from 1998 to the present, with special progress over the summer of 2003. Our goal is to map the presence of Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and other less commonly recognized communities in the greater New Orleans area. This representation will also document shared use of individual sites. Towards this end the project will catalogue information useful for learning something of what each community is all about - including their interrelations. Descriptions will accompany images so that viewers can gain an understanding of the formation and history of the various communities in New Orleans.
