Augsburg College
Ethnic Tibetan Buddhists and Indian Shi'ite Muslims in the Twin Cities, Minnesota

Project Description

Michel Boudreaux will be examining two specific immigrant communities in the Twin Cities through research at their central religious centers. He will document the religious activities and history of the Tibetan Buddhists community of the Gyuto Wheel of Dharma Monastery. Michel's second community of study is the Indian Shi'ite Muslim community consisting of immigrants from both Tanzania and Uganda. His work will include documentation of the Aujuman-e-Asghari and the Ja'fari Islamic Center. Michel's research will explore how these two groups preserve their religious traditions and their community identity in their new American context.
