Mapping Religious Diversity in Idaho

Project Description

I will study religious diversity in Idaho through extensive fieldwork and research. I will visit mosques, temples, churches, retreat centers, compounds, and interfaith centers. I will first research the newest religious communities and minority religious in Idaho, including Muslims, Jews, Hindus and Sikhs. Then I will research interfaith dialogue and organizations that have developed in the wake of 9/11. Finally, I will research new Christian religious movements in Idaho, including Mormons and other new Christian groups. I will explore religious pluralism in the state of Idaho, and the dynamics in which different religious communities interact with each other.

Dr. Patrice Brodeur is the faculty sponsor for this research.
