We had a ceremonial event which was repeated over and over at the 18th Surg in QuangTri ... being at the end of the line from anything, including Command, we often did things that were a little different. Whenever someone was leaving the unit to return to CONUS - we had a farewell ceremony and a Huey "fly-by." Now HQ did get wind of this and advised that this was not an authorized use of military equipment. For this reason, we discontinued this practice and replaced it with a religious event which we called , "Passover."
Here you see the ceremonial smoke as the DEROSEE rides around the pad in the jeep.
