Hsi Fang Temple is a Chinese Ch'an and Pure Land Buddhist temple. The temple was founded by the Venerable Master Hsing Yun in 1989. It is associated with the Fo Guang Shan order and temple in Taiwan as well as Hsi Lai Temple in Hacienda Heights, California.
For all those who are interested, the temple holds meditation sessions and Buddhist studies sessions.
Activities and Schedule
For the English speaking public: Meditation is held on Thursdays from 7:00pm to 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 3:00pm to 4:00 p.m. Sessions include chanting, walking meditation and 30 minutes of sitting meditation. Buddhist studies sessions are held on Sundays 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (beginner class), and include Dharma talks on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays (after meditation). For the Chinese speaking public: There is a regular Sunday chanting and meditation service at 10:00 a.m., except for the last Sunday of each month, when there is the Repentance Service at 9:00am. Dharma lectures are generally delivered by the abbess of the temple on Tuesdays 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There are lectures on Buddhist scriptures on Saturdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Buddhist ceremonial instruments and chanting classes on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The temple also organizes summer camps, does family visitations, and holds Cantonese language classes and zither classes. The temple also officiates at funerals, weddings, and house-blessings ceremonies.

Location and Directions
The Hsi Fang Temple is located at 4536 Park Blvd., San Diego, CA 92116. Hsi Fang temple is located in University Heights. To get to the temple by car, take route 805 to the El Cajon Blvd exit. (If you take the 163, you should exit at Washington East) and continue to Park Blvd North. Hsi Fang Temple is a three-story building located on the left hand side after the second traffic light. To get to the temple by bus, it is advisable to take Bus 11.
Description
Hsi Fang Temple is located on a half acre of land with two three-story buildings. One building houses the Wellspring Teahouse and Bookstore, Translation Center, and classrooms; the other houses the dining area, Main Shrine, and main offices.
