The primary mission of the Islamic Center of Boston is to provide a focus of activities for Muslims living in the Greater Boston area in order for them to organize the religious, educational, and social life of their community in light of the Islamic teachings and traditions. It enables them to make positive, effective, and organized contributions towards the well being and enhancement of the social and cultural environment in which they live. An additional goal of the Islamic Center is to act as an information resource by providing an understanding of Islam as a faith, as a religion, and as a way of life, and by striving to create an awareness of the Islamic point of view on issues of contemporary relevance. In its workings it has been organized as a democratic association of equals; it does not entertain distinctions based on race, color, ethnicity, sectarian affinities, countries of origin and financial standing of its members.

The A. I. C. P. was established to implement the teachings of Islam as per the guidance of the Qur’an. The belief and practice of the A. I. C. P. worldwide is that of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama^ah, those who adhere to the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam. The most important objective of the A. I. C. P. is to spread the correct knowledge of the Religion—teaching Muslims and non-Muslims about Islam—by spreading the Islamic Obligatory Knowledge and supporting it with clear evidence. The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, said: which means: "The best of the deeds is the belief in Allah and His Messenger." (al-Bukhariyy) In accordance with this, the A. I. C. P. emphasizes teaching Tawhid, the Islamic knowledge by which one would know what is and what is not proper to attribute to Allah and His Messenger. The A. I. C. P. is a voice of moderation, striving to rid the Muslim community of the vile innovations and prevailing deviations—the proponents of which call for terrorism and violence. The A. I. C. P. does not compromise its stand against those who try to deviate the Muslims from the belief of the Prophet, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, his Companions, and the subsequent Muslim generations known as Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama^ah. The A. I. C. P. set its objectives with the realization that victory over evil can only be achieved by spreading religious education and propagating goodness among people—knowing that society can only be reformed through piety and fear of Allah (the Creator). The A. I. C. P. urges Muslims to help each other and share responsibilities, such as encouraging the wealthy to console and relieve the poor—whether Muslims or non-Muslims.The A. I. C. P. urges all Muslims to provide for the needs of the hungry, orphans, and needy, as well as to correct one’s self, family, and society in accordance with Islam. It was said by a prominent American official about the society in America, that "Our problems are beyond government’s reach. They are rooted in the loss of values." Islam provides the values that, if implemented, can resolve the societal problems many nations are facing today.

The aim of the Islamic Academy is to give our children an Islamic identity and a high quality education.

The Academy aims to provide a high-standard of American-curriculum education while integrating Islam in all aspects of the learning process. We consider learning to be a lifelong responsibility. We educate our students integrate into society as proud practicing Muslims. We strive hard to create a learning environment where children develop Islamic behavior, manners, morals and pride in their Islamic heritage. The objectives of the academic programs at IANE are to form minds that are skilled and discerning, which are equipped with logical scientific reasoning, trained in basic skills, full of creativity, and prepared for lifelong learning.

The aims and objectives of the foundation are to uphold the Muslim Shia Faith and explore all possible avenues for the dissemination and propagation of the faith to all persons in the USA and throughout the world.

In 1978 Khaniqahi Nimatullahi House of Sufism was organized and opened by then Master of the Nimatullahi Order, Dr. Javad Nurbakhsh. Since that time the House of Sufism in Boston’s South End has been a meeting place for the those interested in the spiritual teachings of the Sufi Path. Gatherings for meditation are twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays.

The Mosque is open for daily prayers, regular weekly lectures by outstanding scholars and academics, educational classes and other activities.
