Pluralism Project Affiliation

An Invitation to Participate.

************************************************************************************

The Pluralism Project is interested in research that will develop and enhance our understanding of contemporary American religious communities, especially those of post-1965 immigrants. We hope to affiliate with the following types of projects, though we welcome your ideas and innovations:

  • Mapping the new religious landscape of cities or regions not covered by previous Pluralism Project research (for example: cities such as St. Louis, and Nashville, or states such as Idaho, Utah, etc.)
  • Studies of particular temples, mosques, gurdwaras, multi-congregational churches, religious organizations, or interfaith councils.
  • Studies of particular religious movements or organizations, especially those of newer immigrant communities, including youth or student organizations, women's organizations, service organizations, etc.
  • Studies of the ritual, festival, and family life of newer immigrant religious communities.
  • Case-studies of interreligious conflict or cooperation, especially involving newer immigrant religious communities.
  • Studies of the voluntary organizations or associations through which religious groups, especially newer immigrant religious communities, participate in civil society.
  • Studies of public institutions in the process of negotiating issues of religious difference.

Through this network of affiliates, we continue to broaden the base of Pluralism Project research. Affiliates contribute copies of their findings and materials to the Pluralism Project Archives. Some of these may be incorporated into a future edition of the CD-ROM On Common Ground: World Religions in America or incorporated into the Pluralism Project Website.
