Our grant funding is currently fully expended; we are seeking additional funding and will notify you when new opportunities exist. Please make sure you are on our informational e-list.
The Pluralism Project Grants are quite modest grants that are intended to cover the direct expenses of research. Most often, they are used for expenses such as transportation, film, tapes, photographic development and other incidentals of research. Sometimes a grant will pay for a student research assistant or for stipends for student researchers. Grant funds are NOT available for faculty release time, university overhead, capital investments in equipment (such as digital cameras), or website development.
We support affiliate researchers with Web services in our office, including an affiliate page, access to the Center Profile database, posting of executive summaries of research, posting of online slide shows including captions, etc. While we are happy to link to your website should you develop one, grant funds cannot be used for that purpose. We also have a digital camera that is available for short-term loan to affiliates.
Student Research Affiliate Grants generally range from $1,000 to $2,000. Projects vary from selected in-depth profiles to full- scale summer research projects.
Teacher Affiliate Grants are generally for $1,000 for a variety of projects designed to enhance classroom teaching and interaction with local religious centers and resources.
University Affiliate Grants generally range from $2,000 to $6,000. Projects vary and may include support for a specific course, a full-scale mapping of a large metropolitan area, or research project on a specific topic.
Individual Affiliate Grants generally range from $1,000 to $2,000. There is no specific application for these grants; we do sometimes support work that does not fall into the other categories. Examples include photographic research resulting in slide shows, a community-based resource page, and research by independent scholars.
