The missing girl's father, a member of the notorious motorcycle gang known as the Highway Men, was under the impression that his daughter had been kidnapped by the Krishnas. The gang came from Kentucky armed with handguns and shotguns in order to find his daughter. However, the girl was not at the community and the gang became angry. They took the Krishna leader, Kirtanananda, up to the top of a hill and told him to dig his own grave. They also shot and wounded four people, as well as pushed all the deities off the altar. The gang was eventually frightened off before anyone was killed. According to a devotee, even though the Krishna community could identify the assailants, the local law enforcement did nothing.

On one of the walls of the extension there used to be a stained glass window, but it was destroyed when a motorcycle gang smashed the window in a search for a missing girl.
