– A valuable meeting with Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti –
By Agim Aliçkaj
At this meeting, on behalf of the legendary leaders of the Albanian American Civic League Joe DioGuardi and Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi, as well as the League’s Board, I conveyed the warmest greetings and unwavering support for the building and strengthening of the Republic of Kosova to Acting Prime Minister Mr. Albin Kurti and his adviser Fëllanza Podrimja.
We were also pleased to briefly meet the Acting Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci.
I informed the Prime Minister about the current political situation in the U.S., the League’s activities in Washington, the adaptation to new circumstances, the diaspora’s participation in Kosova’s local and national elections, the potential for greater cooperation between the government and the AACL and other organizations in the U.S., as well as organizing several events of mutual interest.
We also discussed other matters, including the possibility of approving the building permit for an OBELISK for the 1,432 children massacred by Serbian forces near Prishtina airport, an idea of freedom fighter Dr. Nusret Pllana, support for the Presheva Valley led by MP Shaip Kamberi, and the national awakening of the Albanian region of Sanxhak initiated by patriot Amina Nuraj.
The Prime Minister spoke wisely and with vision on all issues, as well as about opposing opinions and constructive criticism, about reaching out to political opponents who are not corrupt, and about refraining from responding to unscrupulous insults and denigration from opponents. He reflected honesty, sincerity, courage, bravery, and determination.
Together with my friend from my early days in America, Ramazan Bekteshi, in the fortress of the Dardanian state, we expressed to the Prime Minister of Dardania our concerns about the unfavorable political situation and our support for the common cause, the defense, and the building of the state. These concerns are not only ours but also those of thousands of our compatriots in America, independent of political parties, of numerous intellectuals, of those who speak out and those who remain silent for various reasons.
Our hearts ache for Kosova. What is happening?! Do these deputies have minds and consciences? How is it possible for them to block themselves, their workplace, and their country out of spite and other interests? How is it possible to attack the state in order to take power? How is it possible that the freedom and independence gained through blood and centuries of resistance is endangered by Albanians themselves?!
How is it possible that “Lista Srpska,” an organization with proven terrorist ties, a sworn enemy of the Albanian people and the state of Kosova, is allowed to participate selectively in democratic life, at will, with the sole purpose of destroying the state? Would Europe allow this? Would America allow a party funded and trained by Venezuela or Iran to register and operate freely in America? No, no, never.
After all the recent evils, after the state has been blocked by losing parties, after the shameful, unconstitutional, and anti-state decision of the Constitutional Court in favor of the hostile organization “Lista Srpska,” which neither recognizes the state of Kosova nor its Constitutional Court, it is clear that Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, President Vjosa Osmani, and former Speaker of Parliament Glauk Konjufca are the only hope for defending the Republic.
They must remain strong, united, and determined because they are on the right path. Their achievements in confronting the Serbian enemy and unjust international pressure are historic. Those who do not acknowledge this fact deserve neither respect nor consideration. The majority of the diaspora supports them; the majority of the people of Kosova support them.
Extraordinary elections remain the only right and safe way forward for our heroic Dardania.
