Dear friends,
We thank you for attending the birthday celebration of the legends of lobbying activity in Washington, Joe DioGuardi and Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi.
This was the first time that our large community, in a united way, did something for Joe and Shirley, after 40 years of their tireless and historic work on the Albanian issue in America.
For this important event, we invited many community leaders, who over a period of four decades have worked with Joe, Shirley, and the Albanian American Civic League. We invited the founders, former board members, and the new board members. We also invited leaders of many old and new Albanian-American organizations.
We are very happy with the warm response, even from those who could not attend. The participation of the Prime Minister of KosovA, Mr. Albin Kurti, made this event even more important and special. The respect and even love for Joe, Shirley, Prime Minister Kurti, and for one another was impressive.
We tried with all our strength to welcome and accommodate each of you in the best possible way, because we know that you all deserved the greatest attention. We hope you understand that when big and complex events are organized, mistakes can happen – especially when they are last-minute ones like this. Ultimately, we hope everyone understands that this was Joe and Shirley’s day and no one else’s. We succeeded together, they were extremely happy, which I believe makes us all very happy.
